7. They Actively Pursue the Success of Their Own Adoptions:
Sir Frances Bacon put it well when he wrote:
"A wise man will create more opportunities than he will find."

The goal of adopting will be one of the primary areas of focus in the lives of successful adoptive parents. They don’t become obsessed by it, but they do become actively involved and engaged in the process. They spend their waking hours with their eyes and ears open, so that they can become familiar with all of the resources that are available to help them reach their goal. They are available at a minutes notice to immediately follow up on a lead, before it gets cold or has been claimed by someone else who is quicker on their feet.
They realize that once birthparents make the decision to place their child for adoption, they need immediate attention and follow through, and will often bond and make an adoption plan with the first genuine adoptive couple that can address their needs and resolve their uncertainties and concerns relating to adoption.
These couples refuse to just fill out an application with an adoption agency and then wait months or even years for the phone to ring. They always have several approaches to adoption going on at the same time and if something or someone isn’t getting the job done, they make arrangements to move forward with what will work.
